Appeal Democrat Thursday July 20, 1950 pg 15 Floyd (Fud) Burtis Dies in Sutter Home Burtis- An illness of several months duration was fatal early today to Floyd Phillips (Fud) Burtis of Sutter. He died in his home. Burtis was born in Sycamore, Colusa County. His father was John Charles Burtis and his mother was Nellie Phillips, both members of pioneer families of this area. On Aug 29, 1920, Burtis and Genevieve Caldwell, a native of Yuba County were married. For 31 years Burtis operated a barber shop in Marysville and previous to that was in business in Grimes. He was a member of Marysville Elks Lodge Enterprise Lodge No 70, F & AM, Fidelia chapter Order of Eastern Star, Yuba City and the Episcopal church of Colusa. Survivors include his wife, two sons, Donald of Sutter and William F of Los Gatos; a daughter, Evelyn Monnie of Sutter and a grandson, Ronald Monnie, Sutter; two brothers, Lawrence of Napa and John C of San Jose; four sisters, Zella Banning of Sacramento, Nina White of Colusa, Marie Ornbaum of Grimes and Ann Kay of San Francisco. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Saturday in Ullrey Memorial chapel, Yuba City with Rev Bernard W Lowry, pastor of the Firts Methodist church of Yuba City in charge. Interment will be in Sutter cemetery where rites will be conducted by Enterprise lodge
