A. Slocum & Co., Publishers (1882) WM. A. BRUNKHORST.—Born in Germany, January 13, 1846, where he was educated and followed the mercantile business until 1869. In October of the above year he emigrated to the United States, and arrived in New York, in the ship Kosmos, Capt. T. Wiericks, on the 26th of November, in the same year. In June, 1870, he came to California direct to Contra Costa county, locating in Antioch, where he found employment as book-keeper for Martin Homburg, and afterwards for George Thyarks. In the Fall of 1875 he bought out the business of the latter gentleman, and has since been engaged in the general merchandise trade, at the corner of Main and Front streets, Antioch.
