Slocum & Co., Publishers (1882) VOLNEY TAYLOR.—Born in Canada East, June 20, 1851, where he resided and attended the common schools until 1866, when, in the Fall of that year, he, with his parents, emigrated, via New York and Panama, to this coast, first settling in Vallejo for two years. In 1868 he came with his parents to Contra Costa county, and located on the land now owned by the subject of this sketch. On arriving in this county Mr. Taylor was placed in the Pacific Business College in San Francisco, where he completed his education and graduated from that institution in 1872. He immediately returned to his farm, and is now engaged in general farming. Was married in Point of Timber to Miss Agnes Andrews, a native of Illinois. They have now one son, Everett B.
