Daily Alta California, August 6, 1889
“Ex-Superior Judge Thomas A. Brown of Contra Costa county died yesterday 
morning at Martinez. Deceased was sixty-six years old.  He came to Willamette 
Falls, Oregon, from Illinois in 1843. In 1848 he located in California, and was 
appointed Alcalde of the Martinez district in 1849. He was County Judge from 
1856 to 1864. He was elected Superior Judge in 1880. Deceased was related by 
marriage to W. W. Camron, President of the Oakland City Council.” END

Son of Elam and Sarah (Allen) Brown.  He married Caroline Thela Camron on May 
20, 1851, in Martinez.
