COUSINS DEAD. Pioneer Resident and Ex-Recorder of Contra Costa County. MARTINEZ, Nov. 10. Charles S. Cousins died to-day. He was a native of New York, aged 67 years and a pioneer resident of this city. For twelve years he was Recorder of Contra Costa County. He leaves a widow [Catherine Felicita Tennent], a descendant of the Spanish Martinez family. Funeral services will be held Saturday under the auspices of the Masonic fraternity, of which the deceased was a distinguished member. The remains will be conveyed on a special train to San Francisco for interment in the Odd Fellows' Cemetery.” END AND Page 11, Column 7 “DIED. COUSINS. In Martinez, November 10, 1898, Charles S., beloved husband of Catherine Cousins, a native of New York, aged 67 years and 11 months. The funeral will take place to-morrow (Saturday), at 9:15 o'clock, from Masonic Temple, Martinez, thence by train leaving Martinez at 10:40 o'clock. Interment I. O. O. F. Cemetery, San Francisco, on arrival of 12:15 train.” END Additional Comments: San Francisco Call, November 11, 1898 (Friday). [Note that he was buried in the IOOF Cemetery in San Francisco. Greenlawn Memorial Park was established in 1903 and the 26,000 remains from the IOOF Cemetery were moved to Greenlawn.
