BROTHER JONATHAN CEMETERY, Crescent City, Del Norte County, California From US 101 highway to west on 9th Street to junction with Pebble Beach Drive at the coast. The park is on the left just at the junction; the gravestones surround a flagpole near the coast end of the park. (State Historical Landmark #541) (More a park than a cemetery. These are all stones that circle the base of a flagpole in a park. A plaque indicates that it commemorates the burial site of those who lost their lives in the wreck of the Pacific mail steamer Brother Jonathan at Point St. George's Reef, July 30, 1865. However, very few of these died on that date so obviously others were buried here as well. ) Made available to The USGenWeb Archives by Kay King - * Augustus Rozell born in Canada died in Crescent City Dec. 26, 1884 aged 54 years * Laurien Nickel born Dec. 30, 1866 died Nov. 25, 1868 * mother's grave Edith M.
