Mrs. Ball had suffered from heart trouble for some time and the end was not unexpected due to her age and weakened condition as the result of a long period of time. The funeral is to be held Friday afternoon from the Black funeral home with Rev. J. Freelen Johnson in charge while the Rebekah Lodge of which Mrs. Ball was a member will conduct the graveside services and special music. Mathilda Elsie Heckathorne was born at Silver Lake, Indiana, April 24, 1863, and came with her parents at the age of ten years to Eagle Point, Jackson County, Oregon, where she was raised and educated. On December 10, 1882, she was married at that place to David Ball. In 1893, Mr. and Mrs. Ball moved to Arcata, Humboldt county, where they lived until 1912 when they began their residence at Crescent City, where they have since resided. Mrs. Ball leaves to mourn her demise her husband, David Ball, a son, Harry D. Ball, two granddaughters, Mrs. Paul Brunk and Mrs. Russell G. Wagner, all of Crescent City; a son, Henry C. Ball of Kelso, Washington, and a grand- daughter, Mrs. Isabelle Lindille, who resides at Dollsville, California. She leaves also a sister, Mrs. Jennie Simpkins, who lives at Aurora, Oregon; three grand-children and two great-grandchildren. Mrs. Ball was a Presbyterian and a member of Delta Rebekah Lodge in Crescent City. She lived a truly Christian life and was dearly loved by all who knew her well. Her relatives have the sincere sympathy of a host of friends of the deceased. Additional Comments: Note: Date of death from California Death Index, #46475.
