The funeral of Elisha Harlan, pioneer, who died yesterday at his home near Camden, will be held from the home at 1:30 o'clock tomorrow afternoon under the direction of Stephens & Bean. The deceased was 81 years old. He was one of Fresno co.'s earlest pioneers, coming here with his father, George Harlan, Jr., from Niles, Mich., when eight years old. The family located at Sutter [sic] Fort [incorrect], now Sacramento. Striking out to make his own way when yet a boy, Elisha Harland [sic] located at Mission, San Jose, and engaged chiefly in farming and stock raising. In 1860 he bought land near Kingston. Nine years later he moved to Riverdale and homesteaded 160 acres. At the time of his death he owned 1000 acres of land and many cattle near Paso Robles. Harlan is survived by his widow and four children, Jerome and Leroy of Riverdale. Mrs. Irene Hancock of Laton and Mrs. Alada [sic] Sheril [sic] of Chico, and one sister, Mrs. Mary Smith, of Livermore."
