R. & E. and the junction of the P. L,. Co. R. Rs. Alton (Junction) is the infant town of Humboldt, and is destined to gain a leading position in the county's traffic and commerce. Its position is commendable. It is the key town to the richest section and fruit belt of southern Humboldt—the South Fork of Eel River. The surrounding country affords excellent opportunities for employment. The dairy interest is of great importance. It has one of the finest creameries in the county, Frank W. Luther, the enterprising and senior member of the mercantile house of F. W. Luther & Co., is the manager. The town is pleasantly located in a rich section, and has every reason to hope for increased growth and prosperity.
