Ferndale, CA "Enterprise" June 16, 1896
Robert Johnston, a native of Ireland, age 80 years, 3 months, 18 days, died at 
Fortuna Friday morning at 10 o'clock.  He leaves behind him five sons.

Additional Comments:
Robert Johnston, born in 1816 in County Donegal,came to America in 1837 and 
settled in PA, then IA. He came to CA after 1880 as a widower. His wife, 
Sarah, one son and four daughters had all died previously. The surviving sons -
all born in Iowa, were Robert, James, Joseph H., William B. and Abraham L.
