Russ. (December 14, 1900) Last Saturday evening...united in marriage Mr. Will Stevens of Ferndale and Miss Maud Filby of Hydesville...and are now domiciled in cozy housekeeping rooms in the Doe residence on lower Main Street... (March 20, 1906) The pretty home of Dr. H.J. Ring in Ferndale was brilliantly illuminated last Wednesday evening and was the scene of a happy gathering in the shape of a double wedding. At 8:30 o'clock Rev. W.S. Kelly of the Ferndale ME church united in marriage Harry Lee Taubman and Miss Helen Helgestad, and Charles Francis Taubman and Miss Verna Helen Ring, all popular young people of this town. Both rooms are sons of Mr. and Mrs. Lee Taubman of East Ferndale, one bride is the daughter of Dr. H.J. Ring and the other the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Helgestad of this place. The ceremony, which was witnessed by relatives only, was followed by a sumptuous wedding repast, served on the lawn in a lunnular shaped canopy arranged for the occasion. The happy couples, who will make their homes on Rose Avenue, were the recipients of many beautiful and costly wedding gifts. (August 22, 1902) At the residence of the bride's parents in Ferndale last evening, February 20th at 7 o'clock, Rev. S.R. Wood united in marriage Dr. R.R. Michael and Miss Gertrude Berding...immediately after the ceremony the couple departed for Eureka and will take the steamer today on route for Phoenix, Arizona where Dr. Michael has located for the practice of his profession. (February 21, 1896) Tuesday evening at the home of the groom's mother in Ferndale Judge James Smith united in marriage Oliver P. Winslow and Miss Lulu P. Crowl, daughter of E.G. Crowl of this valley. (April 28, 1899) At the residence of the groom's parents in Ferndale last Wednesday evening at 6:30 o'clock, Rev. A.S. Parsons spoke the solemn words that united in marriage John P. Meng and Miss Martha Olsen...Following the marriage ceremonies, which were witnessed by about forty invited guests, a sumptuous wedding supper was served, after which card playing, games, etc., were in order. Mr. and Mrs. Meng, who will reside in the Meng building on Main Street.(December 23, 1898) United in marriage Thomas Halwick and Mrs. Ella Ellingwood, both of Port Kenyon. They expect to soon take up their residence in the Gill tenement on Main Street, next door to the Ladies' Bazaar, of which place of business Mr. Halwick is the owner and his bride the manager (September 5, 1911) Horace H. Winslow and Miss Myrtle Beatrice Myers...were united in marriage at a pretty ceremony at eight o'clock last Monday evening at the home of the bride=s parents in this town...will make their home in the Paine building, where a cosy suite of rooms has been fitted up for their occupancy.(July 16, 1920) ...united in the holy bonds of matrimony Mr Walter Reynolds and Miss Gladys B. Simpson, both of Ferndale...are now making their home in the Hall cottage on Washington Street, recently vacated by C.B. Hart, which they have rented.(December 8, 1911) Last Friday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Trigg in Ferndale, their daughter, Miss Winifred, was united in marriage to George A. Woodcock of Eureka...(September 16, 1921) Miss Florence Sutra has accepted a position in the office of the Russ, Aggeler, Williams County, succeeding Miss Christine Christiansen, who was united in marriage the first of the week to Peter Petersen. (October 12, 1923) In the parlors of the Ferndale Hotel yesterday afternoon, Rev. Kelly of the Methodist Church united in marriage Mr. Henry D. Athwood and Miss Alice E. Richardson. Quite a number of relatives and friends of the parties to the contract witnessed the ceremony. The bride is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F. Richardson of the Rio Dell section, while the groom is a resident of St. Helena, Napa County, for which place the happy couple will depart in a few days where they will reside. (April 19, 1901) Last Sunday forenoon, at the home of the bride's mother in Ferndale, Rev. A.B. Roberts spoke the solemn words which united in the holy bonds of marriage Mr. Sigurd Nilsen of Eureka and Miss Della Miner of this town...The parlor of the Miner home, where the ceremony was performed, was beautifully decorated with fern and ivy, and the solemn vows were taken beneath a magnificent wedding bell of white Canterbury bells...youngest daughter of Mrs. H.A. Miner of Ferndale. (July 12, 1910) In the American Hotel parlor in Ferndale, Wednesday afternoon, Justice of the Peace James Smith united in marriage Edward M. Hinch, recently from the Klondike, and Miss Alberta May Woodcock of Eureka. Mr. and Mrs. Hinch will remain in Ferndale a few days before returning to their home in Eureka. (October 12, 1900) Yesterday morning at six o=clock, at the home of the bride in Ferndale, Mrs. May Taubman was united in marriage to Fred Rushmore of Eureka...The bride is the owner of the Red Star Clothing House in Ferndale.(August 12, 1921) Last Sunday evening at seven o=clock, at the home of the bride=s parents in Ferndale, Tracy L. Elmendorf, of Kingston, New York, was united in marriage to Miss Edna L. Hansen of this town.The parlor of the Hansen home was also beautifully decorated with palms and cut flowers. There were 29 guests present.(October 1, 1920) Sunday morning at 11 o'clock, Rev. Phillip Coombe spoke the solemn words which united in marriage Miss Carrie Gill and Mr. Joseph Phillips. The wedding ceremony was performed at the home of the bride's mother in North Ferndale. The bride is he youngest daughter of Mrs. Albin Gill of this place.(January 16, 1906) Last Thursday evening, a the home of Mr. and Mrs. C.A. Bartlett in Ferndale, W.E. McClelland of Eureka and Miss Mina Hall of Myrtle Point, Oregon, were united in marriage, Rev. R.D. Douglass officiating.(February 27, 1920) At a pretty wedding yesterday Dr. Floyd G. Worthington and Miss Edna Lund, both of Ferndale, were united in marriage. The ceremony took place at high noon at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. J.N. Lund...Dr. Worthington is the son of Mrs. F.M. Bruner of this town.(11/18/27) One of the prettiest weddings of the season occurred Tuesday at high noon when Dr. A.M. Dinsmore and Miss Cavy Miner, daughter of Postmaster and Mrs. L.H. Miner, were united in marriage at the Miner home on Fifth Street, the ceremony being performed by Rev. A.B. Roberts of the Congregational Church in the presence of the immediate relatives and one or two intimate friends of the contract parties.Though the hour was high noon, the ceremony was performed by candle light, the curtains being drawn and tiny lighted candles buried everywhere among the flowers, from which only the light was visible, making as pretty and artistic a scene as it was unique. The decorations in the dining rooms, where the wedding dinner was served at the conclusion of the ceremony, were red and green, a huge basket of red roses on the dining table serving as a center piece from which trailers of ivy, hung with dainty red hears, ran to various parts of the room. Bartlett in Ferndale, Robert Bonner and Miss Romayne Wallace, both of Eureka, were united in marriage.(April 24, 1917) Will Tonini retunred to his home in Frendale last Sunday evening, bringing withhim a bride in the person of Miss Cecelia Bonnikson, to whom he was united in marriage at Merced on January 3rd. will make their home in a cottage on Shaw Avenue, which the gentleman has purchased and furnished for the reception of his bride.(January 21, 1921) Last Saturday evening, November 24th, at the residence of the bride's parents in north Ferndale, the Rev. G. Hutchinson united in marriage our esteemed young friends Mr. Ray H. Edwards and Miss Laura A. Kausen, eldest daughter of Professor Wm Kausen and wife...Mr. and Mrs. Edwards then repaired to their future home on Shaw Avenue, which had been previously secured and elegantly arranged for their occupancy.(November 17, 1896) A pretty wedding took place last Sunday afternoon at one o'clock at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Eriksen in North Ferndale, when their eldest daughter, Miss Margrethe Eriksen, was united in marriage to Mr. Alfred Laursen. (July 1, 1913) A pretty home wedding at the home of the bride=s parents in Ferndale last Sunday afternoon at one o'clock, Miss Bothilde Eriksen became the bride of George H. Knudsen of Oakland...daughter of Postmaster and Mrs. Martin Eriksen of Ferndale.(October 28, 1921) At a pretty wedding last Sunday afternoon at one o-clock at the home of the bride=s parents, Mr . And Mrs. M. Eriksen, in North Ferndale, Miss Johanna Eriksen and Joe W. Taylor, both of SF were united in marriage.(4/23/26) At eleven o'clock yesterday morning Rawley W. Evans of Bear River was united in marriage to Miss Marie Teichgraeber, the ceremony taking place at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Teichgraeber, in North Ferndale.(February 9, 1912) At his home in North Ferndale early Saturday morning, Pioneer S. W. Morrison passed to this eternal rest...born 1827...in 1856 Messrs. Morrison and Williams came to Humboldt county, locating on Bear River, where Mr. Morrison resided up to some three years ago, when he took up his residence in Ferndale and lived until his demise last Saturday...Mr. Morrison was united in marriage to Miss Delia Gill of Bear River, who survives him...Silas V. and Sanford B. Morrison of Ferndale, and George W. of Bear River...also two brothers, Lafayette of Bear River and George W., the latter a resident of Ohio. (October 18, 1910) ...last Sunday afternoon, united in marriage Mr. James H. Berry and Miss Lillie Elkins, both of this town. The ceremony was performed at the residence of the bride's parents in North Ferndale, and the interior of the home was beautifully decorated for the occasion. (October 3, 1899) At the residence of the bride's sister, Mrs. F.R. Elkins, in North Ferndale, Wednesday, June 23rd, at high noon, James Dawkins and Lucie Loretta Hinkley, both of Yager, were united in marriage.(June 25, 1909) A pretty wedding took place last Monday evening at 8 o'clock at the North Ferndale home of Mrs. H. Varian, when Mr. Harry Caltoft and Miss Hulda Sievers, both highly-esteemed young people of this section, were united in marriage by Rev. A.L. Mitchell, rector of the Episcopal Church of this place. The ceremony was witnessed by relatives and a few intimate friends of the contracting parties, Mr. Robert Smith and Miss Bertha Sievers acting as groomsman and bridesmaid, respectively. The parlors of the Varian residence were decorated with green and white, while that of the dining room was pink, presenting a very pretty appearance. Mr. and Mrs. Caltoft were the recipients of many beautiful and costly presents...the groom has charge of both the upper and lower Riverside dairy ranches on Salt River... (January 9, 1903) Last Friday evening at the Bennett residence in North Ferndale, where the happy young couples are to reside, the Rev. W.S. Kelly spoke the words that united in marriage Theo Anderson and Miss Emma Petersen, of this valley, and Carl Petersen, also of Ferndale, and Miss Swanson of Eureka.... (December 16, 1902) Last Saturday morning at 10:30 o'clock the Rev. Woods united in marriage at the residence of Ouff Andreason, Mr. C. Svendsen and Miss Marie Hansen. In the evening the young couple were tendered a dance in the top story of Mr. Andreason's Mechanical Shop. (August 9, 1895) In North Ferndale, at the resident of the groom, Mr. Peter Oluff Andreasen and Miss Ellen Black, both of Ferndale.. (June 1, 1897) Last Saturday afternoon a few minutes after Rev. G.H. Merrill had pronounced Mr. Oluff Andreasen and Miss Ellen Black man and wife at the home of Mr. Andreasen in North Ferndale, Joseph Black, a brother to the bride, and who objected to the union, appeared upon the scene and upon learning that the knot had been tied went into a furious rage and proceeded to demolish things generally. He upset the tables, broke the flower vaces, lamps, mirror, etc. and would have undoubtedly had seriously hurt Mr. Andreasen had not J.P. Lind, W.F. Andreasen, electrician Wright, Lew Klesper, and several of the workman employed in the mechanical shop interfered. He attempted to assault Rev. Mr. Merrill also for his part he took in the marriage and it was quite awhile before he could be subdued and brought to his senses...Mr. Black was arrested immediately after that... (June 1, 1897) Silva F. Laloli...Gladys M. Boots...united in marriage..for the past two years he has been connected with the Cream City Mechanical Co...will make their home in the commodious residence on Shaw Avenue, recently vacated by Mrs. Emma Giles, which has been fitted up for their occupancy..(October 15, 1920) At the residence of the bride's parents in North Ferndale last Wednesday evening, the Rev. G.H. Merrill, united in marriage, Mr. George Herrick and Miss Rachel Stillings, second daughter of D. Stillings and wife...ceremony was witnessed by the relatives, the contracting parties, and a few intimate friends... (January 22, 1897) At the Ferndale residence of Judge Smith, Tuesday evening, that gentleman united in marriage Hiram E. Stewart and Adrians Winslow, both of this valley. The happy couple are to spend a few months at the springs in Lake County... (July 3, 1902) Last Wednesday evening, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johnson in North Ferndale, Rev. N.P. J. Nielsen of the Ferndale Danish Lutheran church united in marriage Mr. Fred Johnson and Miss Mary Nilsen, both well known and popular young people of this valley.(January 23, 1914) Last Friday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W.A. Brown in North Ferndale their only daughter, Miss Muriel, was united in marriage with Walter Hillgardner.(April 27, 1923) A very pretty wedding took place last Tuesday at eleven o'clock a.m. at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Giacomini, in North Ferndale, when Carrie J., their eldest daughter was united in marriage to Mr. William R. Johnston, son of Mr. C.A. Johnston of Petrolia. Rev. Father Kiely was the officiating clergyman. Miss Addie Giacomini, sister of the bride, acted as bridesmaid, and Mr. George Reynolds served as groomsman. The interior of the residence was beautifully decorated for the event, which was witnessed by a large number of relatives and invited friends of the contracting parties. When the ceremony was over a sumptuous wedding breakfast was served, and in the afternoon the bride and groom departed for Eureka. en route for their future home at Seattle, Washington... (February 1, 1901) Last Saturday, in Eureka, Clifford Buttle and Mrs. Gertrude Hackett, well known and popular young people of this valley were united in marriage...upon their return will make their home on the Buttle ranch east of Ferndale, of which Mr. Buttle is the manager...bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Hackett of the Island... (December 19, 1916) Last Thursday night at the beautifully decorated home of Mr. and Mrs. R.S. Tyrrell, and before a large company of relatives and a few intimate friends of the contracting parties, Rev. Kelly of the ME Church, pronounced the words that united for life the destinies of Elton A. Tyrrell and Miss Naamah E. Pierce. Elton is the youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. R.S. Tyrrell, who are old and respected pioneers of this valley. he is a stalwart son of noble parents, a ranchman born, and a true trader of the soil. Miss Neemab is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D.D. Pierce, who have successfully conducted the Empire's store in our town for several years past. (September 9, 1902) Last Tuesday morning at nine o'clock at the home of the bride's parents in Ferndale, Rev. R.D. Douglass of the Congregational church united in marriage Edward A. Light of Carlotta and Miss Daisy Kemp of this town.. (February 27, 1914) S.L. Back and Miss Christina Nielsen were united in marriage last Tuesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Martin Eriksen, of North Ferndale...Mr. Back and bride have gone to housekeeping in a cozy home in East Ferndale, recently purchased by the groom. (May 24, 1907) Yesterday morning at six o=clock, at the home of the bride in Ferndale, Mrs. May Taubman was united in marriage to Fred Rushmore of Eureka. (July 9, 1907) At the residence of the bride in Ferndale yesterday morning, March 16th, at 6:30 o'clock a.m. the Rev. R. Rodda joined in marriage Mr. John E. Foster and Mrs. Mary O. Lewis. Immediately after the ceremony the happy couple departed for Eureka where they took the Pomona for a weeks stay in San Francisco. The enterprise joins with a host of friends in wishing Mr. and Mrs. Foster every happiness and success in life. May peace and plenty be theirs for all time to come. (March 17, 1896) ...marriage Pearl G. Frost of the Enterprise force to Miss Ada Mills, daughter of the late W.H. Mills of the county seat...but we can assure our typo Pearl... (September 6, 1895) Dr. and Mrs. S.P. Porter entertained a number of their friends Saturday evening, the occasion being the 14th anniversary of their marriage. The evening was pleasantly passed in card playing, conversation, games, refreshments, etc. (January 3, 1899) Marriage: Mr. Thomas Ferguson, clerk of the White Front Store, and Miss Anna Boynton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. F.Z. Boynton, of the Island, will be married next Tuesday evening at 8 o'clock. (June 1, 1900) Marriage of our young friend, Andrew P. Meng, son of Merchant M.P. Meng and wife, to Miss Hancena Schmidt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nels Schmidt of the Waddington Section.The ceremony took place at the home of the bridegroom in Ferndale on the evening of March 19th, the Rev. S.R. Wood tying the knot and a number of relatives and invited guests were present. (March 27, 1896) Last Saturday afternoon, in the parlors of the Creamery Restaurant, and in the presence of about 75 relatives and friends, Judge Smith joined in marriage Mr. Joseph Cassicca, renter of R.S. Tyrrell's Ferndale dairy farm, and Miss Cora Meade, daughter of A.L. Meade and wife, of Bear River Ridge. (December 8, 1903) Marriage of Mrs. I. MacLaren and Mr. Bernard McDermott...Fortuna...Oakland to be their future home.(August 10, 1906) Last Saturday evening at 8 o'clock, at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Mullen, in Ferndale, Judge James Smith joined in marriage Mr. Isaac W. Davis and Miss Josephine Mullen, only the relatives and a few intimate friends of the bridal couple witnessing the nuptials...Mr. and Mrs. Davis are now domiciled in the groom's residence on Church Street. (September 20, 1904) The Pythian castle was the scene of a joyous gathering on Tuesday evening of this week, the occasion being the marriage of Mr. Christian Hansen and Miss Louisa Meng, both of Ferndale. By 5 o'clock the spacious lodge room was filled with the relatives of the contracting party and invited friends to the number of fully 200 and Prof. Petersen's brass band heralded the approach of the wedding party...the groom is a most worthy young man in every respect and a skillful mechanic who for the past several years has been employed in the Andreasen Mechanical Shop of this place, he is a brother to Mrs. M.P. Hansen and by his industry and thrift has provided a handsome new cottage for himself and bride in North Ferndale. The bride is the only daughter of merchant M.P. Meng and wife of Ferndale. (December 24, 1897) Marriage...Mr. Bendix Jensen and Miss Agnes Sophia Ganderup...she has for nine years past held a position in the Ferndale Hotel... (October 6, 1896) High noon on Sunday, May 12th, witnessed the marriage of two of southern Humboldt's most popular young people. Mr. Harry A. Cowen, of Briceland, and Miss Annie E. Miner of Ferndale. The ceremony was performed by Rev. A.B. Roberts, pastor of the Ferndale Congregational Church, and was witnessed by only the immediate relative and a few intimate friends of the young couple. The happy event occurred at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. H.A. Miner, on Fifth Street, which had been tastily decorated in honor of the occasion, the parlor being decorated in white and green with hawthorne, bankshire roses and ferns, and the dinning room in pink and green with azaleas, ferns and roses.(May 14, 1907) Last Sunday forenoon, at the home of the bride's mother in Ferndale, Rev. A.B. Miner of Ferndale. (July 12, 1910) Marriage...Mr. Herbert Smith our popular cigar manufacturer, and Miss Josephine Brien, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Brien of Ferndale. The ceremony will take place next Tuesday evening at the residence of the bride's parents on Ocean Avenue. (January 19, 1900) Next Saturday, if we are correctly informed, Mr. John Matheson and Miss Olger Svendsen, of this valley, will be joined in marriage, and will immediately thereafter start on a visit to the old country. The to-be bride is a sister to the young man who works for D. McGregor, the harness maker, and who with his mother, recently took up their residence in the McCahill house, opposite the Masonic Hall. (November 19, 1901) A happy duty falls to the Enterprise this week, that of recording the marriage at 8 o'clock Tuesday evening, June 28th, 1904, of Mr. Christian Eskesen, the popular landlord of the American Hotel, and Miss Jennie Goble, one of Eel River Valley's well known and favorite daughters. The joyous event took place in the parlors of the American, which by the way were very handsomely decorated with the choicest of white blossoms, and officiating clergyman was the Rev. A.K. Farnworth. Attending the bride was her sister, Mrs. E.H. Jennings of Fortuna, who wore white nun's veiling and carried a bouquet of pink carnations. The bride was attired in cream silk Spanish, with a tulle veil fastened with orange blossoms, and in her hand was a bouquet of St. Joseph's lilies. The bride's brother, Mr. J.P. Goble, served as groomsman, and to Miss Kate Dunn fell the honor of playing the wedding march... (July 1, 1904) marriage...Miss Mildred Smith to Luther Lamb...at an early morning wedding last Sunday at the home of the bride=s parents in Ferndale...Lucius M. Smith...(December 31, 1920) Monday evening joined in marriage two of our most popular young people, Mr. Clyde C. Alford, son of Druggist W.B. Alford and wife, and Miss Jennie Rackliffe eldest daughter of Chas F. Rackliffe and Mrs. Mary Rackliffe, all of Ferndale. The wedding was a very quiet affair, just a few being present, but the marriage gifts were many, including a handsome rocking chair presented by the Ferndale Concert Band, of which organization the groom is a leading member.(October 30, 1903 Wednesday, May 4th, 1904, at high noon, and at the residence of the bride's parents in Ferndale, the Rev. A.L. Mitchell, Rector of St. Mary's Mission, joined in the holy bonds of wedlock Mr. Thomas Henry Bair, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Bair, of Arcata, and Miss Edna Beatrice Carr, only daughter of Editor E.B. Carr and wife, of Ferndale. The young couple were attended by Mr. Fred Bair as groomsman and by Miss Edna Putnam, of North Ferndale, as bridesmaid, the latter being attired in white lansdowne over white silk, with a white straw hat trimmed with forget-me-nots, a bouquet of which she also carried. The bride wore cream alan over white silk, a white wedding veil, and carried a bouquet of white carnations and maiden hair fern tied with lace bows of white tulle. In the parlors of the Carr residence, which bore decorations of white clematis and Banksia roses, the beautiful and impressive Episcopal marriage service was invoked, and surrounding the happy young couple, as they took their solemn vows, were their relatives, and also Mr. and Mrs. A. Putnam, the parents of the bridesmaid, Mrs. Mitchell, the wife of the rector, and the few intimate friends who had so kindly assisted in the preparations for the event... Jensen, pastor of the Ferndale Danish-Lutheran church, officiated at the marriage of Mr. Niels Petersen and Mrs. Bodil Branstetter, two of the well known residents of this section. The ceremony was performed at the home of the bride on Shaw Avenue, the nuptial knot being tied in the presence of a few of the friends of the contracting parties...although the groom is the renter of the Williams dairy ranch east of town, he and his bride will make Ferndale their home and will reside in the Branstetter dwelling on Shaw Avenue.
