Mortuary chapel in El Centro for Glen W. Jones, 82, of Holtville, who died Saturday in El Centro Regional Medial Center. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the chapel with Art Ziegler and the Rev. Steve Paddock, both of Holtville, officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in El Centro. Mr. Jones was born April 10, 1914, in Witts Springs, Ark. A Holtville resident for 67 years, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served in Europe and the Pacific. He was a heavy equipment operator, starting work on the Imperial Dam in 1936. He retired in 1976. He was preceded in death by brothers Ralph in 1975 and Ernest and Walter, who died as infants; and sister, Lucy Jones Fowlkes, in 1991. Survivors include his wife, Maudie Smedley Jones of Holtville; daughter and son-in-law, Norma Jean Jones and Larry Bowerman of El Centro; brothers, Everett of Hemet, William of Margate, Fla., and Frank of Los Molinos; sisters, Ruby Obergfell of Ridgecrest and Anna Tudor of Fontana; two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
