Holtville Tribune, December 9, 1977 and Barbara Faye Smedley Tucker, granddaughter
EMMA CHRISTINE "TENNA" (KEMP) SMEDLEY

Funeral services will be held  at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 10, 1977 at Hems 
Brothers Chapel, El Centro,CA, for Christine Smedley, 84, who died Wednesday, 
December 7, 1977 at the Royal Convalescent Home in Brawley,CA. Interment will 
follow at Evergreen Cemetery, El Centro. The Rev. Ernest Hobbs of the 
Pentecostal Church of God will officiate. The mortuary chapel will be open for 
visitation today from 6-9 p.m.

Emma Christine "Tenna" (Kemp) Smedley was born July 5, 1893 in Mineola,Howard 
County,AR, and had been an Imperial County resident for the past 49 years. She 
had been a cook for 40 years prior to her retirement, and last worked for 
Crabtree's Cafe in Holtville.

She is survived by a son, William Henry Bill" Smedley, of Holtville; three 
daughters, Autie Nadine (Smedley) Davis, El Centro; Maudie Leona (Smedley) 
Jones, Holtville; Thelma Aree (Smedley) Chiever, Beaumont; two sisters living 
in Arkansas; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-
grandchild.
