Rosary was recited on Thursday evening by Father Joel Davadilla and a funeral Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Friday, Sept. 9, by a friend of the family, Father John Gracey of Our Lady of Perpetual Help parish in Bishop. Dee Dee was of Navajo, Yokut and Yaqui Indian heritage and her family dates back in the Tehachapi Valley to the early 1900s. Mrs. Bachara was born in Tehachapi on July 11, 1926 to parents Mary and Frank Acevedo. She was a faithful member of St. Malachy Catholic Church and during her lifetime she felt privileged to have attended Mass in all three St. Malachy Church buildings; the one built in 1887, the 1937 structure and the present church. She attended local public schools and was a member of the Tehachapi High School class of 1945. In 1945 she was united in marriage to Edward Bachara, whom she met when he was a United States Marine stationed at the Marine Corps Air Base in Mojave. To this union, seven children were born. Her gusto for life included being devoted to her family, a loving wife, mother and grandmother who taught unconditional love, charity and a never-give-up attitude. She is survived by six children; sons, Frank and his wife Michelle, of California City; and Shawn Bachara, of Tehachapi; daughters, Sandra Vasquez and husband Paul; Teri Gracey and husband James; and Robin Cummings and husband Dale; and Katie Phillips, all of Tehachapi. She was proud of her 24 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and her numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Bachara, her first child, Patricia Kathleen Bachara, her mother, Mary Rodriguez and loving stepfather, Joe Rodriguez and her only sister, Julia Rodriguez Thornburg. Burial was in Tehachapi Public Cemetery Westside.
