Her mind and body have now been freed. Ginger had lived and worked in Bakersfield for 38 years, last working in retail at Gottschalks and Robinsons-May Department stores. Ginger served her country in both the Army and Air Force. She is survived by her daughter, Wendy Avila of Bakersfield; two sisters, Barbara Bakke and Mary Grinager and her dear friend of 38 years, Charlotte Nixon. Ginger is predeceased by Ernest Avila and their son, Brian Avila and two sisters. Ginger will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Ginger never met a stranger and she had an endless love for all animals, especially her cats.
