Harasta May 10, 1915 - April 17, 2005 Mildred Elizabeth Abel Harasta went to be with her Lord on April 17, 2005, at age 89, in Bakersfield, California. Our dear Mildred was just 23 days shy of reaching her 90th Birthday! Mildred was born on May 10, 1915, in Milnor, North Dakota, the daughter of Charles A. Abel and Zora Wheeler Abel. Mildred was a devoted wife and homemaker to her loving husband of 60 years, Clarence C.J. Harasta, who preceded her in death. Additionally, her brother, Charles Abel and his lovely wife, Lucy, preceded Mildred in death. Mildred enjoyed a cherished lifelong bond with her dear brother and sister-in-law. Mildred is best remembered for her exceptional warmth, graciousness, and hospitality. The ranch life Mildred and her beloved C.J. shared was heaven sent. She enjoyed nature and saw beauty in all wildlife, especially the pet deer that frequently inhabited her front yard. She enjoyed people and loved to entertain and share the beauty and wonder of her ranch with others. Through her thirty plus years at Hart Flat, both Mildred and C.J. enjoyed many close friendships within the Hart Flat and Keene communities. Many of her neighbors became like cherished family members too! Mildred is survived by her loving nephew, Chuck Abel and his wife, Susan; and treasured grandnephews, Jonathan and Connor, and grandniece, Leanne. When it came to her grandniece and nephews there were no limits to her love and devotion. She was proud to be their number one fan! Other survivors include her nephew, Jimmy Harasta and his wife, Laurie and their two fine children, Logan and Nicole, and nephew, John Harasta. Together her nephews and their families hold many dear memories of good times shared at the family ranch! The family would like to thank Dr. Stiles for his compassionate care to our lovely aunt. Thanks also go to Mildreds friends and neighbors, John and Charlotte Rathgen for their love and devotion to Mildreds spiritual needs. Thank you to John and Diane Oglesby and Randy and Sharon Reiswig for always being there. Special thanks to Eva Morales, Mildreds friend and stylist, for all the love and support she has given to our aunt through the years. In accordance with Mildreds request, no public services will be held. A private family memorial is scheduled at a later date to honor her memory.
