Martin Steven Alderete
Oct. 4, 1959 - Mar. 26, 2005

Visitation will be held at Hopson-Anspach Family Mortuary, 620 Oregon St., 
Bakersfield, CA, on Tuesday, March 29, from 2 p.m. 9 p.m. with Recitation of 
the Holy Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be said 
Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at St. Francis with interment following at Union 
Cemetery. 

Martin Steven Alderete was born October 4, 1959, in Bakersfield to Gerald and 
Mary (Ramos) Alderete. He attended elementary school at Our Lady of Guadalupe 
School and graduated from Garces High School with the Class of 1977. He worked 
with his family at Alderete Paint and Body Shop and later advanced to manager 
then owner. In his younger years he did volunteer maintenance work needed at 
Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and also volunteered for the Kern County Search 
and Rescue. He was currently employed in home maintenance for Contreras 
Painting. He was a great cook and enjoyed making Chili Verde and Clam Chowder 
which were the family favorites.

Those left to mourn his passing include his daughters, Cecilia Carter and 
husband, Kyle and Stephanie Alderete; grandchildren, Austin and Aaron Carter, 
Johnny Maese and Isaiah Bejarano, all of Bakersfield; parents, Gerald and Mary 
Alderete of Bakersfield; brother, Paul Alderete of Shafter; sister, Rebecca 
Alderete of Bakersfield; niece and nephew, Laura and Patrick Fuller; uncles 
and aunts, Susan Deutsch and husband, George and Patrick Alderete and wife, 
Janie. He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Donations may be made in his name to St. Francis Church, 900 H Street, 
Bakersfield, CA 93304.
