He died peacefully at home with his family by his side. Mr. Allison was born Sept. 19, 1937 in South Gate. He served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1960 on the USS Saratoga and in Portsmouth, Va. After his military service, Ron returned to his native California and attended San Diego State College where he earned a bachelor’s degree in speech arts and a master’s degree in communication. His education qualified him to teach both speech and photography at the college level. His career included teaching, film making, sales and management. In 2000, he moved to Tehachapi upon his retirement from hotel management in the San Diego area. He enjoyed reading, fishing, gardening, genealogy and visiting with his family. Poor health restricted his pursuit of these activities in recent months as his illness decreased his mobility. Mr. Allison is survived by his five children, Donald and his wife Lynn, of Portsmouth, Va.; Renee Bunn and Shelli McGee, of Oak Harbor, Wash.; David and his wife, Jennifer Sell, of Oak Park, Ill.; Heloise, of Las Vegas, Nev.; and Yvonne and her husband, Cliff Sell, of Fuerth, Germany; grandchildren, Cassandra, Cherie, Steven, Robert, Calvin, Henry and Marlene; brother, Mike Nett and his wife, Lorraine, of Sun City West, Ariz.; and his loyal dog, Margaret “Maggie” Thatcher; as well as his ex-wife Dian Allison, with whom he remained friends and shared his children and grandchildren. Reverend Barabara Smith officiated at the service. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the American Cancer Society, 1523 California Ave., Bakersfield, CA 93304 or to the Tehachapi Rose Society. Wood Family Funeral Service handled the cremation arrangements.
