Wes was born and raised in Los Angeles, California to Roy L. and Dorothy Anderson, Wes was a veteran of the Navy in WWII. After leaving the Navy in 1945, Wes married his wife Kay, and their love affair lasted for 54 years. With the support of his wife and family, Wes graduated with a Bachelors degree in Education from Pomona College. He went on to complete his Masters Degree at Cal State Long Beach and his Doctorate at USC. Wes spent 35 years as a teacher and administrator for the Kern High School District, ending his career as principal of Highland High School. Wes and Kay lived most of their married life and raised three children in Kern County. After Wes retired, they move to the Central Coast to be near the ocean they both loved so much. With his new found free time, Wes began painting, cooking and singing barbershop, as well as playing golf as much as possible. After 10 years, they moved back to Bakersfield to be near their family and many friends. When Kay became ill, Wes lovingly cared for her until her death in 2001. Wes was blessed with love again when he met his second wife, Pat. After courting her long distance for a year, they were married on March 26, 2004 in Sedona, Arizona and lived together in Manasquan, NJ. In New Jersey, he continued to indulge in his passion for golf, cooking and traveling. Though far from home, he maintained a constant and loving presence in the lives of his children, grandchildren and many friends in California. Wes is survived by his wife, Pat; his brother, Roy (Jane); his son, Roger (Terry); daughters, Nancy Blair (Ken), Vonnie Thompson (Jim), stepdaughter, Meg Walsh (Patti), 8 grandchildren and 11 great- grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on September 17, 2005, at 1:00 p.m., at Christ the King Catholic Church, 1800 Bedford Way. Close family friend, Monsignor Stephen A. Frost will officiate. There will be a reception following the service in the Church hall.
