She was born January 17, 1907, in Redlands, CA to George and Lora Archer. She was the oldest of six children, all of whom preceded her in death. Elizabeth married Carrol Bolen on August 18, 1935, in Santa Ana, CA. Carrol preceded her in death in 1967. Elizabeth graduated from Excelsior High School and UCLA. She was a member of the Bakersfield Eastern Star, the Daughters of the Goldenwest, Newport Beach Flyers Travel Group and was very active in the First Methodist Church and Choir for many years. In 1976, at the age of 70 and after 50 years of service, she retired from her career at the Post Office. Elizabeths passion for adventure and travel took her all over the world from walking the Great Wall of China, to camel riding in Egypt, exploring Europe, cruising the river of Russia to zodiac boating through the waters of Antarctica. She is survived by her two loving daughters, Gwen Towery and her husband, Jack of Chandler, AZ, Lorna Notley and her husband, Bill of Huntington Beach, CA; five beautiful grand-children, Lisa Notley of Seal Beach, Robin Shaffer of Huntington Beach, Bob Notley of Huntington Beach, Debbie Simpson of Bakersfield and Darren Brumback of Hines, Oregon. She also leaves behind 4 great grandchildren; Nick Keese, Chad and Ashleigh Wright, Katie Josephson and one great-great- grandchild, Ryan Keese. Graveside services will be held Saturday, July 16, 2005, at 12 Noon, at Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary, in Bakersfield.
