Luis was born in Mexico on June 15, 1945, to Jose and Margarita Avalos. He worked in Southern California for several years before coming to the Tehachapi area in 1995. Luis had a special talent for working with stone. He left a legacy at La Paz where he built several rock walls, a patio and streambed. He was also a talented carpenter and for the past eight years had been working in construction in Tehachapi. While Luis was a hard worker, he also had a lighter side. He will always be remembered for his wonderful smile and kind ways. He loved music and often accompanied the Spanish choir at St. Malachy on his guitar. He was a loving and wonderful father and husband whose family was his top priority. He will be greatly missed by many friends and family. Luis is survived by his wife of 40 years, Martha of Tehachapi; daughters, Smirna Calderon of Tehachapi, Karina Vazquez of Bakersfield and Yolanda Sifuentes of Tehachapi; grandchildren, Jasmin, Anthony, Yvette, Jennifer and Armando; brothers, Ramiro Avalos of San Diego and Margaro Avalos of Santa Ana; sisters, Carmela Cervantez of San Diego, Sylvia Ochoa and Betty Navarro, both of Stockton; mother, Margarita Sanchez Avalos of Mexico; and numerous other brothers and sisters in Mexico. Father Joel Davadilla will officiate at the Rosary and Mass. Wood Family Funeral Service handled the arrangements.
