Richard was born in El Paso, Texas. He grew up in southern California and attended Washington High School in Los Angeles where he met and married his high school sweetheart Diane Folse with whom he had 3 children. After high school he graduated from the LA County Sheriff Academy where he worked up the ranks from patrolman to detective to the Carlsons Sheriff Station where he met his 2nd wife, Peggy. For 2 years they owned and operated Red Barrons fast food in Garden Grove, CA. After medical retirement they moved from Long Beach to Bakersfield 25 years ago to be near his lifelong friends, Reg and Diane Golledge. He kept in touch with a few Deputies from the Sheriffs Dept. and every year would get together for some good old fishing. Richard and Peggy started "See: The Blind Man" 24 years ago and soon after became partners with Sylvia Moon. Together they formed "Blind Man Window Fashions" that he was still operating at the time of his death. The business will continue with Sylvia at the helm and Richard telling her how to do it! It was one of the most successful window covering companies in Kern County. Richard took his final ride to The Dog and shortly thereafter he had a heart attack. All throughout his life Richard and Reg loved motorcycles. Not just any motorcycle, only the best, Harley Davidson. Together they formed the Wing Club from The Dog and spent many afternoons on rides from Laughlin to Baja to Tahoe to Sturgis. He loved the wind in his hair and the roar of the thunder. Richard was also a very competitive athlete. He taught Kempo Karate and was a 3rd degree Black Belt, he won many baseball and football tournaments. He loved to watch Monday Night Football with the company of his best buds. Richard was preceded in death by his first wife, Diane. He leaves behind 4 children, Darren, Doreen, Matt and Robin; son-in-law, Steve Eisen; 5 grandchildren, Stefanie, Cira, Summer, Cassidy and Jack; mother and father, Anna and Carlos Medina; 3 siblings, Mary, Diana and Charlie and many uncles, aunts and cousins. He was the life of the party and he will greatly be missed. He loved every moment of his life and took it to the limit.
