She passed away on October 18, due to complications of Alzheimers disease. Rosalie was born to Peter and Therese Bauer on April 6, 1918 in Brinkstown, Missouri. She spent her youth in Marys Home, Missouri and then moved to Wasco. She met her husband, Kenneth May, while working in Wasco. As a young bride, she lived in company housing at the Shell pumping station outside of Wasco. While there, she gave birth to twins, Sherman and Sharon. While living there, she quickly learned the skill of killing rattlesnakes, which there were many, with a hoe to protect her children. She was married to Ken for over 50 years. Upon her children's graduation from Wasco High in 1957, the family moved to Bakersfield to be closer to her husbands business. She worked as an office manager for Kens accounting business, Individual Tax Records. She held various jobs prior to the office manager position including over 15 years at Wasco Elementary School cafeteria, the school that her children attended. The family thanks the ladies at Trinity and Alternative Care for the exceptional care they gave our mother during her stay with them. Also her dear niece, Lorraine Laughlin, for the visits and support she gave our mother. Rosalies special joys in life were her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They gave her much happiness and many smiles. Rosalie is survived by her daughter, Sharon and husband, Larry Leff of Bakersfield; son, Sherman and wife, Carol May of Alameda; grandchildren, Andrew May and fiancée, Christel Bickford, Victoria and husband, Marko De Santis, Curtis May, Butch and wife, Lisa McDonnell, great- grandchildren, Amanda McDonnell, Matthew McDonnell, and London De Santis. Her husband, Kenneth preceded her in death. Also preceding her were her sisters, Lucille Fachin, Regina Streiff, Katherine Busch, and Elizabeth Schulte and brothers, Lawrence and George Bauer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donation be made in her name to the Alzheimers Association. Legacy.com Published in the Bakersfield Californian on 10/22/2005.
