Services: Wed., Feb. 15, 1:00 p.m. 

Visitation begins Tuesday, February 14th, from 4-8 p.m., at Hillcrest Mortuary 
with a graveside service Wednesday, February 15th, 1:00 p.m., at Hillcrest 
Memorial Park & Mortuary for Thelma Avis Bennett who passed away February 10, 
2006, in Bakersfield, CA. Born Thelma Avis Hake, April 9, 1913, in Kansas, to 
parents, Ora Bell Funkhouser and William Henry Hake. She married Charles 
Sherman Bennett of Bakersfield, who passed away June 29, 1986. Thelma 
graduated nursing school in 1935, from Kansas State University and immediately 
moved to Bakersfield as there was a real need for nurses. She worked in a few 
Bakersfield hospitals and worked for Dr. Stoops for several years. A wonderful 
Lady who will be greatly missed.
