All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ca/cafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: K T bluewolf@onemain.com December 27, 2005, 2:20 am The Bakersfield Californian Swidecki, Inez Eugena 1913 - 2005 Inez Eugena Swidecki Jan. 21, 1913 - Nov. 26, 2005 Visitation for Inez Eugena Swidecki will be held at Basham Funeral Care (3312 Niles Street) on Saturday, December 3, 2005 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the Basham Funeral Care Chapel on Sunday, December 4, 2005 at 2:30 p.m. Inez was born January 21, 1913 in Bellingham, Washington to Eugene and Eliza Tatro Blake. She passed away peacefully November 26, 2005 at Mercy Hospital surrounded by her family and friends. Inez attended elementary schools in Seattle, WA and she graduated from the University of Washington in 1932 with a degree in journalism. Shortly after her graduation, she relocated to San Francisco and she managed a dental office, Painless Parker, during the Great Depression. The offices of Painless Parker relocated her to their Bakersfield office in 1939. In Bakersfield she met John Jay Swidecki and they married in 1941. Together they opened the Swidecki Dental Lab in the Stoner Building, which was adjacent to the clock tower in 1941. The Swidecki Dental Lab stayed open until 1965. While running the dental lab, Inez and her husband John had three sons, John M., Gene Jay and Jamie B. Swidecki. She also returned to school to obtain a teaching credential. She taught at Potomac School, now known as Bessie Owens and Golden State Junior High, which was renamed Sequoia Middle School. Inez continued her entrepreneur skills by opening Relax and Clean Dry Cleaners in 1965, which she operated for almost 40 years. She also developed property on South Chester and a small housing tract on Planz Road. Inez is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Maxine Blake; her first husband, John Jay Swidecki and her second husband, Burl Goodrich. She has numerous survivors including her sons, daughters in law, grandchildren and other relatives. Her sons and in laws are John M. and Pauline Swidecki of Olympia, WA, Jamie and Linda Swidecki of Bakersfield and Gene Jay Swidecki of Saratoga, CA; surviving grandchildren are Amy, Bryan and Carrie Swidecki; great-grandchildren, Miranda and Brandon Swidecki; cousins, Claire Anne and Rodney Blake of San Francisco as well as many other relatives in Olympia, WA. Inez liked to eat out. She ate breakfast almost every day at the Golden Ox located on White Lane and New Stine. On Tuesday's she enjoyed visiting the Pantry located on Brundage Lane to eat shrimp with her friend, Cathy Hestor. She was loved by all that knew her and she will be deeply missed.
