Feb. 16, 11:30 a.m. Besse Borror passed in her sleep on February 11, 2006, in Grass Valley, California. Besse Sampson was born to Anna Besse and Will Sampson and July 8, 1906, in Richmond, CA, and moved to Tulare, CA where their families were already located. Besse was raised in Tulare and attended Redlands University. She studied music, voice, organ and piano. She was active in the Tulare First Baptist Church. She married Ray Borror in 1927 and had their only child, Bev Borror Poteete in 1931. Besse spent her married life in Bakersfield, teaching at home, piano and voice. She also directed choirs in church and played the organ. She had many honors in music, church and community services. She enjoyed family, friends, bridge, traveling and her faith kept her busy. She was involved with her family, Grans, Great- Grans, and this year a Great-Great- Gran. She was a member of P.E.O., for over 60 years and belonged to the Sierra Presbyterian Church in Grass Valley for 18 years. She is survived by her daughter, Bev Poteete whom she has lived with for the past 18 years at Ponderosa Pines Mobile Home Park in Grass Valley; a sister, Kaki Garner; grandsons, Ray and Mark Poteete; and their wives, Sarah and Mary; great-grans, Stephie, Marcus, Anna and great-great-gran, Xiomari. She also leaves many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly. She was loved by many and wanted to be 100 in July. She was preceded by her husband of 56 years, Ray and sister, Margaret Jones. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Tulare County Cemetery, Thursday, February 16, 2006, at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, cards would be appreciated or memorial donations to Hospice of The Foothills, 12399 Nevada City, Hwy., Grass Valley, CA 95945.
