Gene Morris Brown 
June 4, 1916 - November 22, 2005 
Services: Wed., Nov. 30, 11:30 a.m. 

Chapel services will be held for Gene Morris Brown Wednesday, November 30, 
2005, at 11:30 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary. Public visitation 
will be Tuesday, November 29, 2005, from 4-8 p.m., also at Hillcrest. Gene 
Brown was 89. He was born June 4, 1916, in Lebonon, Missouri. His family moved 
to Fillmore, California where he grew up. While living there he met and 
married his wife, Mildred Evelyn Palmer of Oxnard, California. Gene served in 
the Army during WWII with the Asiatic Pacific Campaign stationed in India. 
After his honorable discharge on June 2, 1946 he moved to Bakersfield and was 
employed by Pacific Telephone & Telegraph. He became the 1st recipient of the 
Silver Veil Award presented by the Telephone Company in 1952. He retired from 
Pacific Bell with 30 years service. Gene and his wife are members of the 
Calvary Bible Church. He was also a member of the Caledonia Masonic Order and 
the Scottish Rite. Gene is survived by his wife of 69 years, Mildred E. Brown; 
his daughter, Lana DeMond and husband, Ray DeMond; and his two grandsons, 
Brandon Gene Lester and Clinton Brent Lester, all of Bakersfield. He was a 
very loving son, husband, dad and grandpa. He will be truly missed.
