Bryant was born in Louisville, Illinois to Ray & Odessie M. Bryant (Kistner). He was one of six children and an identical twin raised on a small farm in southern Illinois. As a young man, he moved to Iowa to work as a farmhand. It was there that he met his future wife Geraldine B. Schneider of Cosgrove, Iowa. Within 30 days after the attack upon Pearl Harbor, he enlisted in the United States Army Air Corp to serve his country. Dean & Geri eventually found their way to Kern County where he was stationed at Minter Field during WWII. After the conclusion of the war, he began a career in the meat cutting business, eventually becoming half owner of Magunden Meat Locker. In the early 1980s, he decided to retire with 40+ years as butcher and began working part time for Aarons Home Center in the Plumbing Department. Dean was an avid bowler. He enjoyed all his friends and accomplishments tied to bowling, especially his plaques and trophies. A sports fan and grandfather, Dean also loved attending his great-grandsons sporting events. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Geraldine, twin brother Jean H. Bryant of Iowa, brother Ray H. Bryant of Utah, grandson Ron Bryant & wife Tyra, great grandsons Cole & Blake. Dean is preceded in death by his parents, brother Oscar, Sisters Leona Slagley, Dorothea McHenery, and son Ronald D. Bryant. Services will be held Wednesday December 14, 2005 10:00 a.m. at the Hillcrest Memorial Park & Mortuary Chapel.
