He served as a corpsman in the United States Navy from 1969 to 1973. Ron graduated from Cal State Fullerton, earning a bachelor’s degree in art as well as an associate degree in American Indian studies at Santa Ana College. He was a very talented artist, paying his way through school by selling his own handmade pottery. Ron was employed by the California Department of Corrections as a medical technical assistant for 22 years before his retirement in 2004. He loved fishing, reading science-fiction books, metal detecting and was an avid coin collector. Ron was a very family-oriented man who loved his family dearly. Ron leaves to mourn his passing his father and mother, Kenneth and Maxine Burke of Mountain Grove, Mo.; his wife of 22 years, Donna Burke of Tehachapi; sons, Shay Burke of Bakersfield; Aaron Burke and his wife Christina of Tehachapi; and Zach Burke and his wife Jennifer of California City; daughter, Kinsie Burke of Tehachapi; grandchildren, Hayley, Caleb and Noah Burke; sister, Sandra Lieras of Lemon Grove; Linda McKaig of Alabama; and Patricia Kensinger of Springfield, Mo.; brother, Keith Burke of Springfield, Mo.; and numerous other relatives, associates and friends. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 31, at 2 p.m. at the Mountain Aire Estates Club House. Interment will be at Lone Star Cemetery in Mountain Grove, Mo. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for funeral expenses. Wood Family Funeral Service handled the arrangements. Additional Comments: Volunteer submission - No relation to the deceased.
