He attended local schools and graduated from the Julliard Conservatory of Music and completed two years of law. The family moved to California where Jimmy continued his singing and theatrical career. He appeared in feature films THE ENEMY BELOW, THE GODFATHER I, THE HUNTERS, HIGH TIME, LOVE MINUS ONE, UP DOWN UP, AND BELOVED INFIDEL. His TV credits, THE DANNY THOMAS SHOW, TIGHTROPE, RESCUE 8, THE REBEL, DAY IN COURT, ROARING TWENTIES, McHALES NAVY, and THE UNTOUCHABLES. In theatre, THREE ON A BED, MARKET TO MARKET, THE FANTASTIKS, WILL THE REAL JESUS CHRIST PLEASE STAND UP, and locally SWEET CHARITY. From 1964 to 1971, he produced and appeared locally in THE SANDRA AND JIMMY BAYS SHOW. He brought to Bakersfield the first discotheque, The Yum Yum Room with an opening band, The Doors. He also owned and operated The Telephone night club, as well as, The Wonder Lodge. Jimmy had a beautiful voice and worked many of the major hotel showrooms throughout the country, and was the lead production singer in the Barry Ashton Review-Desert Inn, Las Vegas for two years. He was a member of Screen Actors Guild (SAG), American Federation of Television and Radio Announcers (AFTRA) and American Guild of Variety Artists (AGVA). He was also Past President of the Musicians Union and Hollywood Comedy Club. He worked diligently for the Motion Picture Retirement Home with Efrem Zimbalist, Jr., and they produced the many roasts for their residents. He was a tournament chess player, a licensed pilot in fixed wing and helicopter, and held a doctorate in metaphysics. He enjoyed golf, bowling, backgammon, and above all, family and friends. He was a devoted son, brother and father. Jimmy was predeceased by his parents, his sisters, Annie Korer and Alice Addis. He is survived by his son, Jimmy (Chase) Bays, his sister, Mary Prizatelli, his niece, Andrea Prange and his nephews, who will serve as his pallbearers, Tom Joanides, Nick Joanides, T.J. Joanides, Albert Addis, Christopher Addis, and George Xenios, Goddaughter, Christina Latinopolas all residing in Los Angeles, CA, numerous nieces and nephews of CA and Athens, Greece. He is survived as well by his former mother-in-law, Patricia Tognini, and his former wife and care giver, Sandra Bays. Services for this kind and gentle man will be Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at 11:00 a.m., at St. Georges Greek Orthodox Church, 401 Truxtun Avenue, Bakersfield, followed by crypt side service at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Park, 2739 Panama Ln.
