The family moved to the Los Angeles area in 1919. While in Los Angeles he became a member of the Masons, the Shriner and Druids and served actively for over 50 years. In the late 1970s he moved to Bakersfield from Los Angeles, from there he moved to Yucca Valley between 1982 and 1990. Moving back to Bakersfield where he met and married Liselotte Lelo on November 17, 1993. They made many trips to Germany and France to visit family and friends. Frenchie worked for Southern Pacific Railroad for 40 years and spent many hours pursuing his favorite hobby, model trains. He is preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Violet, two brothers and two sisters. Frenchie is survived by his wife, Liselotte Lelo; his sister, Julitte and husband, Chuck; nephew, Lynn Cornelius of Oakhurst, CA. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at 2:00 p.m., at Union Cemetery for Francis Frenchie Balma Jr. Pastor Brian Coates of Liberty Christian Center will officiate.
