Lucky George Barnes 
1916 - 2005 

Lucky was born July 20, 1916, in Granby, Missouri and passed away in 
Bakersfield, California, Saturday, June 11, 2005, surrounded by his family. 
Lucky was preceded in death by his precious wife, Evelyn in 1998 after 62 
years of marriage. He was a proud and loving father who is survived by his 
daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Dick Johnston of Tehachapi; son and 
daughter-in-law, John and Ina Barnes of Tehachapi and daughter and son-in-law, 
Judy and Bob Goodwin of Bakersfield. He also leaves behind many grandchildren, 
great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews that he loved dearly. Family meant 
everything to him and he will be greatly missed. He was a veteran of the 
United States Navy, farmed in the Midwest and after moving to California 
retired from Edwards Air Force base. During the twenty-one years he was 
employed by the Federal Government as a Civilian Fire Fighter he witnessed and 
participated in many historical events. In accordance with his wishes there 
will be no service.
