He was raised in Buena Park and Bakersfield. He attended Washington Jr. High, Bakersfield High School and Bakersfield College. Jack enlisted in the United States Marine Corps when he was 17 years old. Following his tour of duty in Vietnam, he completed his military service stationed at Camp Pendleton. He considered himself a Marine for life and proudly displayed the flags of our country and the Corps daily in front of his home in Sacramento. Jack was employed in the family business, Strata Log, and later worked as an instrument technician for various companies. He was most currently employed by Certified Inspection in Sacramento. Jack is survived by his sons, Joey Blythe and John Blythe; parents, Carrol and Barbara Blythe; brother, Bruce Blythe and his wife, Faythe; sisters, Ann Machen and her husband, Derek and Kathleen Blythe and nephews, Jacob Townsend and Callie Machen. Jack had many friends in Bakersfield and in Sacramento. He will be remembered for his good nature, sense of humor and his willingness to help others. He was everyones Mr. Fixit. His family, including all of his aunts, uncles, cousins, and everyone that had the privilege of knowing him will miss him and think of him often. Honorary pallbearers are Steven Hanson, Mike Kelley, Chuck Walker, Lance Wedegaertner, Glen Hill, Gene Hanson and Kevin Grimm. Services will be scheduled on Thursday, March 17, at 11:00 a.m. in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd. The family requests no flowers. No visitation is scheduled.
