"Red" 1911 - 2005 Mario J. Ceccarelli (Red) Aug. 12, 1911 - Nov. 20, 2005 Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2005, 9:00 a.m., at Union Cemetery for Mario John Ceccarelli, 94, who passed away November 20th in Bakersfield. Monsignor Ronald Swett will be the officiant. Red was born in East Bakersfield to Faibo and Emilia Ceccarelli, where he attended William School. Red went to work at City Grocery when he was 8 years old and worked with them until he turned 21. At that time he partnered with a friend to form the Bi-Rite Liquor Store. Red then joined the USAA Corp in 1942 and was Honorably Discharged in 1946 and in 1947 he went to work selling Feed and Fertilizer for City Mercantile Mill. He also worked selling for Flickingers, and Wattenbargers Feed Store. He married the love of his life, Betty in 1950. He started working for the Kern County Welfare Dept. as an Investigator, where he worked for 20+ years and retired. The family moved from East Bakersfield to Rosedale in 1960 and resided there until his death. Reds second passion was raising fruits and vegetables which he sold proudly at the Farmers Market. He was affectionately known as the Carrot Man and the Raisin man. He meets his wife and son-in-law, in Heaven and for a brief moment he is separated from Judy Light, his daughter; David Light, his grandson; along with as many nieces and nephews, as well as many good friends. The family wishes to thank Dr. Bradley Joseph for his many years of devoted service to the family.
