Connors Aug. 27, 1923 - Nov. 9, 2005 A memorial service for Jack Connors, 82, will be held at Valley Baptist Church, 4800 Fruitvale Avenue, at 10 a.m. on Monday, November 14th with Pastors Rodger Spradlin, Phil Neighbors, and Larry Wood presiding. Jack was the only child born to June and Delbert Connors on August 27, 1923 in Bellville, Ohio. He was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and earned the Life Rank. Following two years of college, Jack joined the Navy where he earned his wings and a commission as a TBM pilot. At the end of World War II Jack returned to Carnegie Tech and graduated with degrees in Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering. While in college Jack was a fraternity member of Delta Upsilon. Jack worked in the oil business his entire career which took him to countries around the world and was a member of the American Petroleum Institute. Jack and Ruth have lived in Bakersfield since 1972. They both served as volunteers with the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and have been active members of Valley Baptist Church. In addition to serving as an usher Jack enjoyed being a member of the church visitation committee. Jack and Ruth recently celebrated 38 years of marriage. He is also survived by a brother Robert Connors of Clemson, SC, four children, Michael Connors of Sequim, WA; Patricia Connors of Post Falls, ID; Janelle Antoine of Bakersfield; Steve Cabe of Wilburton, OK. 7 grandchildren: Chris Connors, Kelly Walker, Sean and Cloud Devine, Brandy and Kimberly Cabe, Kendra Morgan and 8 great grandchildren. Donations in memory of Jack Connors may be made to Hoffmann Hospice, (888) 833- 3900.
