Huckaby May 10, 1924 - October 9, 2005 Visitation for Elizabeth K. Huckaby will be held at Basham Funeral Care (3312 Niles Street) on Thursday, October 13, 2005 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Calvary Chapel of Bakersfield (1212 Brentwood Drive) on Friday morning, October 14, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Elizabeth was born May 10, 1924 in Wise County, Texas to Jessie and Rosa Cornelius and she went to be with the Lord on October 9, 2005. Her family moved to the Los Angeles area and then to Bakersfield. When she was young, she went Lamont and Mt. View Schools. In 1940 she met Howard Huckaby and they were married in 1941. In 63 years of marriage they raised 6 children before Howard passed away in March of 2005. Elizabeth is preceded in death by her husband, Howard; son, Marlin; her parents, Jessie and Rosa; mother and father in law, Sam and Minnie Huckaby; sisters, Pearl, Augusta and Leora; brothers, Tom, Thurman and Homer. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Huckaby; daughter and son-in-law, Joann and John Pierce; son, James Huckaby; son and daughter-in-law, Don and Virginia Huckaby; son and daughter- in-law, Jerry and Tammy Huckaby; 17 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren with 1 on the way; sister, Anna Emfinger; sister-in-law, Dola Neal; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Cleo and Chester Lightle; brother-in-law, Alonzo Huckaby; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ronald and Norma Huckaby as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She loved her children, grandchildren, great- grandchildren and she enjoyed cooking and sewing. She was loved by all that knew her and she will be greatly missed.
