Rick was a loving father who lived for his children and deeply cared for his family. Richard Crume was the third child of Myron Jack and Elizabeth Bette Crume. He was born October 16, 1956, in Avenal, CA, before moving to Oildale. He was a member of the North High School Class of 1975 where he excelled at and lettered in football, basketball and baseball. He also played baseball at Bakersfield College. He passed his love of sports onto his nephews and niece who regarded him as their older big brother, and to his daughters through their love for theatrical dance and cheerleading. Rick suffered a series of medical setbacks the last few years of his life culminating with the cancer that nearly took him last September. He battled back to bless us with another year of life. The Crume family wishes to thank Dr. Dean Davis for his professional care that gave us an extra year with Rick that we otherwise would not have had, and Kyle Ray of Optimal Hospice for his personable professional care in the last few difficult days. Rick is survived by his pride and joy, daughters, Ashleigh Victoria and Lindsay Elizabeth; his mother, Bette; his brother, Robert Bob Crume and his wife, Sharon; his sister, Susan Landis and her husband, Larry; nephew, Brian Landis, his wife, Melissa and daughter, Kari; nephew, Robert Jeremy Crume; and niece, Michelle Villa, her husband, Ivan and son Jacob, along with numerous caring friends. Graveside services will be held Wednesday, September 21, 2005, 11:00 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Parks Hill of Valor on Kern Canyon Rd. Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in his holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not swear deceitfully. He will receive blessing from the Lord and righteousness from the God of his salvation.
