Calhoun Beloved Husband, Dad, Grandpa Local Building Contractor for over 35 years. Served in U.S. Air Force from 1955 to 1958. Founding member of local Building Industry Association of Kern County. From 1970 to 1975 he contracted framing on many commercial and residential projects throughout Kern County. He had a strong work ethic like others of his generation. He worked nearly every day of his life. He began working at age six turning grapes in the fields in Kern County and lived with his family in the Sunset Labor Camp near Arvin. He was named after John Caldwell Calhoun, vice-president under Andrew Jackson. He enjoyed seeing a home constructed from blueprints to final project and was very meticulous about the quality of workmanship. He did most of the finish carpentry work on his homes himself.
