Martin was a proud Vietnam vet who never missed marching in the annual Veterans Day Parade with his comrades in arm. He loved the freedom that came with riding Harleys with his brothers. He enjoyed his job with the Bakersfield City School District, where he worked as maintenance supervisor at the time of his passing. He considered most of his co-workers as good, personal friends, or as family. More often than not, you could always find Martin on the weekends in his backyard, barbequing for his family and friends, playing his music, laughing and having a great time. When football season came around, look out if you werent a Rams fan! His family and friends meant the world to him, and was always there to lend a helping hand. Martin married the love of his life, Jackie, a mere 7 months ago. Martin and Jackie celebrated their short time together with great love and happiness. Their marriage was a perfect union. Martin is preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Yolanda Candia. He is survived by his wife, Jackie; his children, Joey Candia, Tommy Candia, Jill Candia and Martin Candia III; 2 grandchildren, Nicholas Candia and Taylor Candia; his brothers, Alex, Tony, David, and their wives; his sisters, Lilly, Martha, Lupe, Lorenza, Nellie, Mary, Alice and their husbands; and numerous nephews, nieces and cousins.
