Patricia Ann Carroll 
Nov. 23, 1927 - Aug. 4, 2005 

Pat was born November 23, 1927, in Holyoke, Massachusetts to Herbert and Hilda 
Carroll, both now deceased. She was the second born of three daughters. The 
family moved from Massachusetts to California when Pat was two years old. She 
attended local schools and graduated from East Bakersfield High School in 
1945. She has enjoyed the class reunions, as well as the monthly luncheons 
with some of the 45 gals. Pat worked for several businesses during her early 
working career. She was last employed by the California Dept. of Motor 
Vehicles from which she retired in 1990 after 29 years of service. She retired 
as Manager of the Drivers License Section. She was also one of the first six 
women to qualify for, and be employed as an Examiner for the DMV in 1969. She 
died on August 4, following a long illness. She leaves three sons and their 
wives, Jim Cox and Velvet of Oregon, Jeff Richwood and Deanna of Bakersfield, 
Chris Carroll and Kim of Fresno; and one daughter, Leslie Cox of Bakersfield. 
In addition, she leaves grandchildren, Patrick Cox, Kassie Hettman and 
husband, Brian, Andrew and Aaron Richwood, Corinna and Taylor Smith; and great-
granddaughter, Mackenna Carroll. She is also survived by sisters, Marilyn Mott 
of Colorado and Barbara Wetteroth of Bakersfield, and by many nieces, nephews 
and cousins. She will remain with us forever in our hearts and minds. Pats 
family extends thanks to the Optimal Hospice staff who helped us so much, and 
provided much appreciated caring help and support. As per her wishes, there 
will be no formal service. Instead, arrangements will be made for a gathering 
of close friends and relatives in the near future.
