There will be a viewing at Doughty-Calhoun-OMeara Funeral Home, 1100 Truxtun Avenue from 3:00-8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, May 11th. Graveside service will be at Hillcrest Cemetery, on Thursday, May 12, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. Maxine was born in Breckenridge, Texas, on April 8, 1922, to Lenna D. and Jasper N. Chapman. She attended schools in Garden Grove, California and college in Denton, Texas. During WWII she worked in the Long Beach Shipyards where she met her husband, Harlan O. Bridwell, an SK2 in the USCG. They were married 44 years. Maxine was preceded in death by her mother and father; husband, Harlan O. Bridwell; her son, Terry H. Bridwell; sister, Bernadine Hylton and brother, Tyrus Bud Chapman. Maxine is survived by her son, Danny T. Bridwell of Bakersfield; son and daughter-in-law, Jack R. and Barbara Bridwell of Atascadero, California; grandchildren, Darrin, Rusty, Cori (Smith), and Casey Bridwell; step-grandchildren, Kristy Guerini and Mary Carter; and six great- grandchildren. Surviving nieces and nephews include Ray Hylton, Jackie Anderson, Linda Lucero and John Hylton; sister-in-law, Elma Chapman and daughter, Jackie. Maxine loved to cook and entertain her family at her home, her life was her family. The family would like to thank Alternative Care and Hoffmann Hospice Care for their support and kindness, and a special thanks to Sheryl Marty for her love and caring the past 2 years.
