Church Sept. 12, 1963 - Apr. 27, 2005 We will celebrate the life of Gerald Church on Monday, May 2, 2005 at Hillcrest Memorial Park, at 10:00 a.m. Gerald passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2005, after battling melanoma cancer. Gerald was born September 12, 1963, in Bakersfield, CA. Gerald lived in Lamont, CA until the age of 10, and then moved with his family to Bakersfield. Gerald graduated from high school in 1982, and then became a 21-year member of the Operating Engineers Local 12. Gerald was never happier than when he was dirt bike riding with his children, Brookston and Brandi. He loved the outdoors, fishing, and camping. He was so artistic and creative; from painting, sketching and doing beautiful woodworking. Gerald loved the Lord and was a member of Valley Baptist Church. Gerald is survived by his son, Brookston and daughter, Brandi; his best friend and mother of his children, Jennifer and her husband, Mark Brown. His loving mother, Marlene Church; father, Jim Church and his wife, Penny; brother, James Church, his wife, Amy and their daughters, Carrington and Kennedy; sister, Kathy DeVelbiss and her husband, Michael; his dear grandmother, Juanita Bradley; his special friend and cousin, Ben McNeill and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. The family would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Michelle Filkins and her children; and to his doctor, Dr. Alan Cartmell and his staff at CBCC.
