Born December 12, 1926 in Cincinnati, Ohio, he lived in Bakersfield for over fifty years. Larry enlisted in the U.S. Navy out of Loyola High School, Los Angeles, CA and served on the aircraft carrier USS Bataan in the second World War. He retired from civil engineering, having started in Santa Monica as a chainman, advancing to Chief of Party at Tejon Ranch and ending in private business in Bakersfield, CA. Larry was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary; sister, Judy; brothers, Patrick and Richard; and niece, Mary Patricia Cloud. He is survived by his brother, P. Gregory Cloud; wife, Mary of Oceanside, CA; sister, Jeanne Serleto of Ventura, CA; sister-in-law, Jeraldine Cloud of Northridge, CA; nieces, Susie Serleto of Australia; Karen Kearns, husband James of Los Angeles, CA; Michelle Blank, husband, William of Valencia, CA; Christine Rook, husband, David of Lake San Marcos, CA; Tina Burks, husband, Kevin of Prescott, AZ; and nephews, B. H. Kim of Santa Monica, CA; Michael Serleto, wife, Gloria of Calabasas, CA; Richard Cloud of Northridge, CA; P. Gregory Cloud, Jr. of Oceanside, CA and many grand- nieces and nephews. Mass was held Saturday, May 30, 2005 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Bakersfield with Monsignor Mike Braun as officiant. The Associated Veterans of Bakersfield, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #7216 performed the Military Rites for the deceased.
