Gilbert was born in Arkansas to Henry and Ila Delaney. He served in the Marine Corps during WWII. He was a crane operator for 30 years and was a member of Operating Engineers Local 12. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion, VFW, as well as an honorary member of the Basque Club of Kern County. Gib is survived by his wife of 66 years, Marce; 3 children, Yvonne Thomas, Charlene Urrutia and Joe Delaney and his wife, Kathy; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great- grandchildren. Gib will be remembered for his sense of humor and wit. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice, VFW, or a charity of your choice.
