M.L. Dillard Services: Sat., Sept. 17, 11 a.m. Visitation begins Friday, 12:00 8:00 p.m. An hour of meditation will be held tonight from 7:00 8:00 p.m., in the Jesse E. Cooley, Jr. Chapel for M.L. Dillard, 75, who passed away September 11, 2005. Services are Saturday, September 17th, 11:00 a.m., at Peoples Missionary Baptist Church, 1451 Madison, with Rev. Lawrence Francisco officiating. Interment to follow in Union Cemetery. M.L. was born in Welty, Oklahoma and had resided in Bakersfield for 58 years. M.L. together with his late wife, Lucille, founded Dillard Trucking Company. M.L. later became an independent hay loader widely known as The Green Crane, this name as well as the Unit 323 carried over into his C.B. radio days as a member of the Star Channel 20 C.B. Club. Survivors include his sons, Melvin, Larry, Melton and Michael Dillard; daughters, Jearlean Carroll, Janet Dillard and Dorothy Banks; 34 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren; brothers, Major, Loryce and James Dillard; sisters, Clara Jones, Aslene Bradford and Oletha Jennings.
