"Sandy" 1902 - 2005 Alice D. Kintzi (Sandy) Services: Tues., Oct. 18, 1:00 p.m. Alice D. (Sandy) Kintzi, affectionately known as Bubba, was born on October 31, 1902, in College Springs, Iowa. She moved with her family to Clarinda, Iowa in 1906, where she spent her childhood. She attended Stephens College in Colombia, Missouri and received her BA at Cornell College, Mt. Vernon, Iowa. Her first teaching job in Port Arthur, Texas was where she met her future husband Jack, they were married in Orange, Texas in 1930. They moved to Columbus, Nebraska where they started their family. After moving to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1942 she did substitute teaching. During WWII they housed many military families on their moves across the country and did mending and sewing for the USO. Alice and children moved to Bakersfield the summer of 1947, when she accepted a teaching position at Union Ave. School. She was widowed in 1948. She spent the rest of her teaching career at Wayside School, retiring in 1965. In 1962, she moved to Kern City, where she was very active in many of clubs and organizations. She was citizen of the year in 1975. After retirement Sandy traveled extensively throughout the world. Her move to Rosewood brought many new friends and wonderful memories. Among her many affiliations and clubs were CHI, OMEGA, NRTA, CRTA, CTA, AAUW, Panhellene, Gray Ladies and Republican Women's Club. She returned to her Lord, October 4, 2005, just short of her 103rd birthday. We will dearly miss her wicked sense of humor, her good and wonderful baked goods and most of all her love. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Nettie Dryden, three brothers, two sisters, her husband, Jack, daughter, Alice Ann, in-laws, brother and sister-in-laws. Sandy was the last of her family. She is survived by her son, John; daughter, Joan Maraccini and her husband, Don; grandchildren and spouses, Rocky and Suzanne, Christina and Doug Catlett and grandsons, Sean and Bryan. We want to thank the staff of Rosewood Health Facility who went above and beyond the call of duty for their wonderful care and love of our Bubba and to Hoffman Hospice who were always there when we needed them to help ease her way to her Lord. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, October 18, 2005, 1:00 p.m. at Rosewood, 1401 New Stine Rd., in the activities room, with Chaplain Gary Bashor officiating.
