D. 1927 - 2005 J. D. Dunlap June 26, 1927 - Dec. 24, 2005 A graveside service will be conducted by Peters Funeral Home for J. D. Dunlap, age 78, on Wednesday, January 4, 2006, at 10:00 a.m., at Shafter Memorial Park. Brother Wayne Montgomery of Christ Community Church will officiate. J. D. was born in Lonoke, Arkansas, to LeRoy and May Dunlap. J. D. came to Wasco during the Dust Bowl Days, and proudly served his country in the US Army. He married Myrtle Crawford in 1953, and he worked for Voth Farms and later Roger Frantz Farming until his retirement in 1992. Myrtle passed away in 1993. J. D. then married Ida Sherrill in 1994, and the couple lived in Bakersfield. J. D. was a very active man and loved fishing, hunting, dancing, bowling, playing cards and dominoes. J. D. was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle; great- granddaughter, Mariah Gonzalez; brothers, Robert and Chester; sisters, Emma Self and Lucille Crook. He is survived by his son, Jay Dennis Dunlap and wife, Sonja; step-sons, Carl Sherrell and wife, Nancy and Dennis Sherrell and wife, Chris all of Bakersfield; daughters, Barbara Adams and husband, Kelly of Wasco, Joy Bruce and husband, Jeff of Arkansas; stepdaughters, Carletta Riccomini and husband, Mike of Idaho, Janice Gambarti and husband, Jerry of Corona, and Phyllis Sherrell of Bakersfield; brothers, Tommy Rueben Dunlap and wife, Dean of Wasco and Jimmy Dunlap and wife, Sharalee of Shafter; sister, Carol Cull of Bakersfield; 19 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren.
