Juan gave from his heart to all without limit — and as such he is receiving a heavenly reward. Juan was born in La Cruces, N.M., on Sept. 1, 1936. He loved plants and worked at a nursery until he and his family moved to Sun Valley, where Juan worked for the Los Angeles Unified School District as a tractor operator supervisor. He was employed by the school district from 1965 until his retirement in 1991. He and his wife moved to Tehachapi in 1997. Juan loved to work in his yard and to go camping. He and his wife, Elizabeth, enjoyed traveling and many times took their children and grandchildren with them. Juan is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth, of 47 years; a daughter Clarissa Ramirez and her husband, Ruben, of Tehachapi; two sons, John of North Hollywood, Richard and wife Veronica of North Hills; seven grandchildren, John, Ruben, Sara, Dolores, Joseph, Jessica and Danielle. Juan is also survived by three brothers, David, Daniel and Sam; and one sister, Lydia Rodriguez; all of Las Cruces, N.M. In addition, Juan had many other relatives and friends. Juan was ready to meet his maker and his sense of humor did not escape his readiness. Juan kept asking God when He was coming for him and that He was running late. Juan would lay back, go to sleep and wait a little longer in his suffering. One evening, he asked for his wallet and seemed in a hurry. After Beth retrieved it, he searched through it and found a few dollars he had hidden. He gave them to Beth and told her that this money was hers but that if God did not take him away that she was to return the money to him. That was our beloved Juan. He has earned his wings by loving, giving and his ability to make us all laugh when things were tough. Juan will be deeply missed by all who knew him and if you didn’t know him, you missed having a great Christian friend. Services were held at St. Malachy Catholic Church on Saturday, Oct. 22 and at the Church of Christ Monday, Oct. 24. At Juan’s request, cremation has taken place and interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation in Juan’s honor. Wood Family Funeral Service handled the arrangements.
