Betty Audine Dwyer 
April 22, 1929 - January 8, 2006 

Betty A. Dwyer passed away at her home on January 8, 2006. The family is 
honoring Bettys wish to not hold a service. She will be buried at Greenlawn 
Cemetery located at 3700 River Boulevard, Bakersfield, California. Betty was 
born in the family home in Bakersfield to Louise A. (Foth) Pyle and Thomas P. 
Pyle on April 22, 1929, the youngest of the four Pyle Girls. Her husband Alden 
Lee Dwyer and her three sisters, Nona, Marilyn and Boots, preceded her in 
death. Betty attended local schools, graduating from Kern Union High School 
(BHS) in 1946. She left Bakersfield after graduation and attended college at 
the University of New Mexico. Betty lived and worked in the Albuquerque area 
before returning to the Bakersfield area where she married Al Dwyer on July 
17, 1954. Als work took them to Canada for a period of time in the late 1950s 
during the oil boom. Life was an adventure for Betty during those days. They 
returned to California in the early 60s and Betty graduated with a Bachelor of 
Arts degree in Social Welfare from Cal State Fresno in 1962. She retired from 
the California Youth Authority in 1984. Betty will be sadly missed by her many 
friends and loving family.
