Richard J. Derby (Rick) 
June 2, 1948 - June 20, 2005 

Funeral Service will be held at Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Chapel, Friday, 
June 24, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. Father Ralph Belluomini will officiate. Rick was 
born June 2, 1948 in Port Jefferson, New York to James and Sofie Derby. He was 
a U.S. Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. Rick was a construction cement 
finisher for 25 years. He had a great sense of humor and was a loving husband 
and father. He was known among family and friends as the Barbecue King and a 
big Yankee fan. Rick was preceded in death by his parents and, is survived by 
his wife, Norma Derby; daughter, Stephanie Derby; step-daughter, Jennifer 
Watts; son, Richard Derby Jr.; son, James Derby; stepson, Raymond Ortiz; 12 
grandchildren and sister, Cathy Welsh. Pallbearers will be Ralph Valdez, Joe 
Soto, Ray Richardson, Richard Dowell. Jimmy Camunes and Tony Noce. Honorary 
Pallbearers are Richard Derby Jr. and James Derby. Visitation is scheduled for 
Friday, June 24, from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
